Paycheck Protection Program Restarts
The Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program restarted today after receiving an influx of additional funds at the end of last week. Lenders around the country found that the system used for application submissions was not working properly, though the system was reportedly back up and running later in the day.
Jacksonville City Council Approves Stimulus Plan
Jacksonville City Council met today via teleconference to discuss a $160 million stimulus package. Under the plan, $40 million would go towards $1,000 payments available to residents, $35 million would go toward testing, and $12.5 million to the city’s emergency funds. The package was approved and applications are likely to open by next week.
Pinellas County Commissioners Will Vote Tomorrow on Reopening Beaches
Pinellas County Commissioners will meet tomorrow morning to decide whether or not to reopen local beaches and pools. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri has stated that he is now in favor of reopening local beaches.
Asymptomatic Testing Now Available in Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County’s testing policy has changed and individuals no longer need to have symptoms to get tested. County testing sites include Raymond James Stadium, Lee Davis Center, SouthShore Community Center, and Plant City Community Resource Center. The tests are available without a cost. Appointments are still required and can be made by calling (813) 272-5900.

There are now 32,138 cases throughout the state of Florida and 1,088 deaths. In Duval County, there are 990 cases and 19 deaths. In Hillsborough County, there are 1,062 cases and 21 deaths. In Orange County, there are 1,339cases and 30 deaths. In Pasco County, there are 237 cases and 5 deaths. In Pinellas County, there are 698 cases and 25 deaths.
