Katie Mitzner is a Vice President at Tucker/Hall, leading the Orlando office. Katie is known for her expertise in media relations, community engagement and reputation management. 

Katie’s diverse communications career spans more than 25 years, including industry experience in rail, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, non-profit and consumer advocacy. Most recently, Katie served as Director of Public Affairs for Brightline where she was responsible for all aspects of public relations for the company’s 4-year-long, $2.7B expansion project to connect South Florida to Orlando with high-speed passenger rail. Her work took her around the state as spokesperson for Brightline presenting on rail infrastructure and its role in the transportation ecosystem. For her work, she was named Communicator of the Year from the Space Coast Florida Public Relations Association in 2022 and earned the Innovative Transportation Solutions Award from WTS (Women in Transportation Seminar) of Central Florida in 2023. 

Katie’s career began in broadcast news as an on-air news reporter and weather anchor. She reported for WLNS in Lansing, Michigan, KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas and WJRT in Flint, Michigan, covering everything from labor relations and the auto industry to natural disasters. Her reporting earned her a Michigan Assoc. of Broadcasters Award for breaking news and resulted in the passage of new legislation in Michigan following her consumer reporting of the resale of recalled children’s products.

Katie’s PR career has spanned the country  including work for the Better Business Bureau, Kaiser Permanente and Orlando Health and her own PR firm, JoLu Communications. Her transportation work began at Florida’s Department of Transportation where she served as lead Public Information Officer for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. While at FDOT, she implemented high profile transportation projects including the launch of highly anticipated express lanes in the heart of Orlando’s tourist district. 

Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Alma College in Alma, Michigan and her Master’s in Communication Management from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication in Los Angeles. She serves in various leadership roles for the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce and the Space Coast Florida Public Relations Association. Katie, a classically trained pianist, teaches piano on the side and is knowledgeable in French and American Sign Language. She and her kids, Joss and Luc, live in Orlando.
